Welcome to

Mora dental

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that examines the structures that support teeth, as well as the diseases and ailments that impact them. Because of the misunderstanding that dental treatment is solely for the teeth, the gums are left untreated and uncared for.

At Mora Dental, we are pleased to treat patients with gum and periodontal disease to the best of our ability, from the most advanced cases of periodontal disease to aesthetic periodontal treatment.

WHAT IS PERIODONTAL DISEASE?

Infections of the structures around the teeth are known as periodontal diseases. Gums that are swollen and bleeding are early indicators of a bacterial infection. The major goal of treatment is to keep the infection under control. Depending on the severity of the gum disease, the number and types of treatments will vary. Deep cleaning treatments, including scaling and root planning, are used, as well as laser periodontal therapy and surgical periodontal therapy.

TYPES

GINGIVITIS: The mildest form of periodontal disease is gingivitis. Gums grow red, swollen, and bleed readily as a result of it. Inadequate oral hygiene is a common cause of gingivitis. Diabetes, aging, smoking, genetic susceptibility, systemic diseases and disorders, stress, inadequate nutrition, puberty, hormonal changes, pregnancy, substance misuse, HIV infection, and some prescription adverse effects are all linked to gingivitis.

PERIODONTITIS: Gingivitis can progress to periodontitis if left untreated. The bacteria biofilm is known as plaque and calculus, its solid deposit, develop at the junction where the teeth emerge through the gums, infecting the tissue and bone that support the teeth in this severe stage of gum disease. The decrease in bone mass will necessitate more intensive treatment.

SCALING

First, plaque and calculus that have adhered to the tooth surfaces are removed, focusing on areas below the gum line and along the root. This is done with a special dental tool called an ultrasonic scaling tool, which includes an irrigation process that can help reduce oral germs by delivering an antibiotic substance below the gum line.

planning

When the inflammation of the tissues leads to the separation of the gum from the root surface, it will create a tiny space known as a periodontal pocket. Periodontal pockets are difficult to keep clean and allow bacteria to accumulate. Root planning is the scrupulous cleaning of the root surfaces to remove dental plaque and calculus. A local anesthetic is often used to minimize any discomfort.

SOFT TISSUE GRAFT

It is a method that protects your teeth from the harmful consequences of gum recession, which exposes more teeth or tooth roots, causing damage to the supporting bone, infections, excessive sensitivity, and pain. Patients are given a topical anesthetic before having the area cleaned to remove plaque and tartar build-up. Gum tissue grafts are made from soft tissue taken from the roof or palate of the patient’s mouth. This soft tissue will be used to fill in gaps in the gum tissue that have become too thin. The grafted site on the roof of the mouth heals quickly and without causing any damage to the surrounding oral structures.

LASER TREATMENT will help you

Laser periodontal therapy removes plaque and calculus pockets from around the teeth, while also smoothing the gum tissue to make brushing teeth easier and more effective. If you want to learn more about laser treatment and how it can address your dental concerns, contact Mora Dental today.
